NEW: Thomas Groome Notes from WFMP 2011 here (5.30MB)
Thank you to all participants at “When Faith Meets Pedagogy 2011,Room For All at the Table: Gathered, Nourished and Sent Forth”.
The conference was a success from start to finish as we began on Thursday, October 27, 9:30 a.m. with our 3rd Biennial Youth Forum which attracted over 1,300 high school students from across Ontario. Our young people were inspired by leaders throughout the community such as Brett Ullman, Mary Jo Leddy, Luke Stocking and Michelle Chikwanine. Thank you in particular to our youth facilitators, most of whom had attended the Leadership Camp in August 2011 in order to prepare for their roles as facilitators, and to Greg Rogers, Chair of the Youth Forum Committee 2011.
Dr. Thomas Groome inspired us on Thursday evening at the WFMP opening keynote, as he posed the question,” Will There Be Faith?”. You can view Thomas Groome’s summary power point notes on the conference wesbsite.
Bishop William McGrattan presided at the Celebration of the Eucharist on Friday morning and set the course for a truly inspirational day including over 60 workshops, presented by educators for educators. Mary Jo Leddy spoke of her work at Romero House and truly captured our theme of “Room for All at the Table”. Feature Speakers captured the challenge and opportunity of contemporary issues facing our community and nurtured our appreciation of what needs to be done.
When Faith Meets Pedagogy has a tradition of liturgies that gather and nourish the community and this year was exemplary as our choir, our concert band and our delegates participated fully in music and prayer throughout the conference.
Finally I wish to thank the WFMP Planning Committee, our member boards and partners, without whom the planning, preparation and delivery of the conference would be impossible.
We look forward to seeing you and new attendees in October 2012. God Bless.
