The Catholic Curriculum Corporation is pleased to be presenting its third Catholic Leadership Youth Forum.  This forum has been very successful in the past and we hope many schools will participate again this year.

In September, Greg Rogers, Youth Forum Organizer and Betty Goulden, Event Planner, will be in touch with each participating Catholic Secondary School in our member boards with a unique link for each school.  That link will be used to register the students/adults attending from each school.  Registration will open September 19th and close on October 7th.

Each Catholic Secondary School is allowed to send up to 10 participants. (9 students and 1 adult)    This includes the chaplain or teacher leader and any student who is taking on the role as facilitator of the small group breakout session.

The cost per participant is $60 payable to Catholic Curriculum Corporation.
The cheque and a copy of the accompanying invoice should be returned directly to:
Catholic Curriculum Corporation
730 Courtneypark Drive West, Mississauga, Ontairo,  L5W 1L9
Attention : Michael Bator, Executive Director

Students are asked to wear their school uniforms.   However, female participants should wear slacks as opposed to kilts as the breakout sessions will take place in small groups on the carpeted floor.

Throughout the day, participants will be involved in a plenary session, small group breakout sessions, and large group breakout sessions.  When participants are registered from each school, they will automatically be assigned to small group and large group breakout sessions.  This information can be printed when registration is completed.  I would be helpful if students knew to which groups they have been assigned before they come to the forum.   Please ensure the participants from your school attend the breakout sessions to which they have been assigned as each space is limited in some areas.  For your information, a copy of the day's schedule can be found here

TRAVEL AND DROP-OFF INFORMATION:

It is very important that buses follow these following directions in order to ensure the safety of our students.

Buses must turn off Dixon Road at the lights at Kelfield Drive.   Next turn right or west at the Doubletree Hotel drive way, approximately 100 meters south of Dixon Road.   Buses that are parking at the hotel can drop the students at the south entrance to the hotel, then enter the parking lot.   There is a cost for parking the bus depending on the number of parking spaces it uses.

Parking fees are the responsibility of each board. Please make sure the bus driver is aware of how the parking fees are being paid.

Alternatively buses can enter the driveway of the hotel and drop students on the southern stretch of the hotel driveway.   The driveway winds its way back to Kelfield Drive so no need to U turn.

DO NOT ALLOW BUSES TO DROP STUDENTS OFF ON DIXON ROAD, it is very dangerous and you will be re-directed.

Buses should be waiting on the southern stretch of the driveway at 2:15pm when the students exit.

UPON ARRIVAL:

-    Your group will enjoy a snack in the Plaza Foyer.
-    Please have one person from each school go to the registration desk in the Plaza Foyer to let us know that your school has arrived.
-    All students should familiarize themselves with the location of their breakout session to ensure a smooth flow to the day.
-    Once the students have finished their snack, participants should move in to the Plaza Ballroom and enjoy a slide presentation on social justice and social action in our Catholic Schools.

BY OCTOBER 6, 2011:

Each BOARD is asked to send a power point slide show about living our faith through the Ontario Catholic Student Graduate Expectations including social action/social justice in our schools to Boris Hoffman hofmanb@hcdsb.org  by Oct 6.

Boris will then compile the slide shows into one show.   Each board’s power point presentation should be 8 slides. The opening slide should image their board’s logo. The other 7 slides should capture a different Ontario Catholic Student Graduate Expectation, e.g.:  A Discerning Believer.  No need to add music, it will be added once the total show is put together.

Thanks for your support of Catholic Student Leadership
